With more than a decade of overwhelming success operating a professional practice, Dr. Nikki Walden has enjoyed helping patients regain their health and embrace a lifestyle that prevents disease. Dr. Walden specializes in functional and preventive care, using advanced therapies, such as bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, PRP therapy, and weight loss and detox programs to improve overall health and wellbeing.
Customized treatment plans at The Center for Renewed Health & Wellness have been formulated to meet the demands and lifestyles of each patient. Dedication to helping her patients achieve their best health ever, allows Dr. Walden to go above and beyond what you might typically expect from a medical professional.
Dr. Walden’s desire to help patients find practical solutions to many of the health challenges that women and men face as they age was the number one reason she chose to work in the functional medicinal field. She combines integrative therapies, such as customized nutrition and fitness regimens, pharmaceutical-grade supplementation, stress reduction techniques, and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) to help her patients live a longer, healthier, higher quality of life. Dr. Walden treats her patients using personalized wellness plans that pinpoint and address the specific needs of each patient on an individual basis.
Dr. Walden’s career path began with an interest in wellness and complementary therapies. Though she loved practicing medicine, she rapidly became discontent with the focus of traditional medical therapies on managing symptoms rather than promoting whole body health solutions. She desired to help her patients by changing her focus to identifying and treating the root cause of illness and not simply cover symptoms. Additionally, she found it increasingly challenging to provide the additional counseling and care that patients needed within the time confines of the traditional medical model.
In 2008, she was introduced to integrative medicine and bioidentical hormone therapy. Seeking a revitalization in her own life and in her medical practice, Dr. Walden retired from obstetrics and transitioned her private practice to include integrative and functional medicine where she focuses on the root cause of her patients’ ailments and deliver treatment options that help improve longevity, regain youthful energy, achieve hormonal balance, and provide avenues for true disease prevention. She recognized the physical manifestations of aging and stress in her own life and began implementing the very changes that she encourages her own patients to make on a daily basis.
A motto that Dr. Walden strives to live by comes from the proverb, “Physician, heal thyself.” Her mantra has always been, “I never ask my patients to do anything I haven’t done myself.” Dr. Walden regularly watches her eating habits, participates in physical activity, and routinely engages in stress reduction activities such as vibroacoustic therapy and prayer. She is grateful to have experienced firsthand how incorporating quality customized nutrient supplementation, lifestyle modification, stress reduction, and achieving hormonal balance can dramatically improve quality of life.
Dr. Kelli Watkins practices integrative and functional medicine at The Center for Renewed Health & Wellness alongside Medical Director, Dr. Nikki Walden. Here, Dr. Watkins can help men and women suffering from andropause, menopause and other hormonal imbalances achieve a healthier lifestyle. Using a combination of personalized nutrition plans, weight management strategies, professional-grade supplements and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy to create a customized treatment plan, Dr. Watkins enjoys helping patients regain energy, mental clarity, and overall balance to achieve a higher quality of life.
After working as an OB/GYN for many years, Dr. Watkins attended a functional medicine conference where she learned and identified with the philosophy behind functional medicine and shortly after made the transition into integrative and functional medicine. Dr. Watkins is passionate about listening to her patients because she believes that many factors surrounding a patient’s current health can be uncovered with a thorough review of their medical history. She believes that symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain, sexual problems, memory issues, mood swings and others can be alleviated and possibly even reversed by addressing these factors at their source.
Dr. Watkins earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University in Biomedical Science, where she graduated Cum Laude. She then went on to receive her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1996 and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. In 2000, Dr. Watkins completed her internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, and went on to become board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Watkins is also in the process of completing an additional board certification in functional medicine and is pursuing a Fellowship in Metabolic, Nutritional and Functional Medicine from the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine.
In Dr. Watkins free time, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband, Scott, and their two children in addition to reading, gardening, traveling and working out.
